You may have noticed a new name popping up at Chart House Press: Megan LaFollett has been working with us since our inception, as a talented editor and book designer. Now she’s agreed to come on board full-time as our new Director of Publishing, and she’s hit the ground running in an effort to provide the best possible service to our authors. When asked about her path to a career in the publishing world, Megan will be the first to tell you it was a strange and crooked journey, but she couldn’t be happier with the destination. Even during her undergraduate work in biology, and during the following five years of graduate school studying infectious diseases, story was a core passion. She worked as an editorial assistant on The Campbell Monograph Series on Education and the Human Sciences, and then applied her editing skills and love for good writing to Priceless, an inspirational romantic suspense by Mark Gudmunson. That experience was the first stepping stone to the genesis of Meraki Editing, an independent editing business that grew to include book design and formatting.
These days, Megan’s science activities are restricted to backyard experiments with her three young children and discussions of her husband’s physics research. Her days are filled instead with finding great stories and getting them to readers. Keep an eye on our events calendar for where she’ll be next!
