A couple of weeks ago, I found myself in a situation I never expected. It started with a pair of high heel shoes and intentionally scraping them up with gravel and dirt. It escalated to reaching into the only puddle I could find (at the side of the road next to the curb) and grabbing as much filth as I could to slather over my daughter’s legs and feet. I had never previously imagined a scenario in which I told one of my children, “No, you need more dirt! Go drag the dress along the sidewalk some more.”
We all had a great time, despite the grime and the difficulty of walking in heels for the first time on an uneven sidewalk–which turned into a bonus blessing: my daughter said she never wants to wear heels again! If only I’d caught that proclamation on tape, right?
Another interesting point from the photo shoot: I’m so used to using my camera phone that I was completely shocked at how different the same frame looked on my phone’s screen and on the real camera. I have no doubt our photographer’s skills had a major part to play in the difference, but it’s amazing what good lenses can do.
